The easiest method of learning languages

With us you don’t have to cram rules. The grammar is given in the examples, and the rules can be taught by our teacher, if necessary. But you won’t have to swot them up. With us you don’t need to cram words and all their meanings. The information is given in the form of ready-made phrases, where each word has only one meaning. And there’s no need to cram them. They are going to be remembered in the process of repeating by the system hints, and the system, in turn, monitors them not to be shown too often or too rarely.

With us you can completely relax and not worry about anything. The system leads the student on its own. You just have to make a habit to run it two times a day for half an hour at a convenient time and place.

Ideally relaxed mode – you walk in the park with headphones on and your smartphone in a pocket, “talking” with the system through the headset microphone. Possibly you’ll need to press the headset button and pronounce some voice commands.

The fastest method of learning languages

In order to measure the speed of learning languages, you have to know exactly the volume of gained knowledge and divide it into the spent time.

We haven’t heard about any courses or methods which would provide a 100% right answer to the question “what have you learnt”. Because to do this, you have to know precisely not just WHAT you have learnt, for example having taken an exam or a test, but HOW SOON you’ll FORGET what you learnt. And different parts of the classes will be forgotten by you in different intervals of time. Nobody except us can count that. Our system knows it for sure. This information is at the core in our system. It can also be setup to store the gained knowledge in your mind for a certain duration, that will influence the learning time.

In most cases, you’ll be able to count how much time was spent on learning a foreign language. Although it will be quite troublesome. Actually, the awareness of this time will not help you much, because you don’t know when you’ll forget all you’ve learnt. But let’s say you have an assumption to this effect.

The issue is that all the available EFFECTIVE teaching methods spend your FREE TIME. In our system, you can COMBINE learning with any activity that doesn’t require focused attention.

That is, the amount of free time spent on language learning in our system will be absolutely incomparably less than by any other method.

Thus, by other teaching methods the joy and pride of a successfully passed exam, after a while, will be darkened by the fact that you start to forget catastrophically fast everything you’ve learnt. And the faster you have completed the course, the sooner you will forget it.

The Drill.City system is setup to store the foreign vocabulary in your memory within a specific time frame and uses optimized scientifically based method that not only does not take away your free time but also uses the usual time very effectively. On the top of everything else, we show you the speed of your learning process at the end of every lesson. And also the expected date of completing the course.

Minimum of your free time spent on the guaranteed result, that will not get out of your head, makes the Drill.City system the fastest.

The system and a teacher

We believe that in the teaching process there are tasks which no system can do better than a teacher.

A student needs to communicate with a live person. He needs someone to whom you can ask questions and receive the exhaustive answers. He needs a companion who would help him to achieve fluency and understanding of the foreign language.

And finally, teacher’s favourite part – sometimes the student has to hear a simple rule that can help him to systemize the examples he already knows.

It’s another thing, when there’s a necessity to arrange in your head what you already know. If the rule is simple and there weren’t enough examples your mind could comprehend the material, the rule can help. We also believe there’re tasks the teacher can’t handle. But the system copes with them perfectly well:

To remember what the student already knows, how stable those knowledge are.

To keep records of what the student doesn’t know yet and how to optimally dose new material.

To study with the student at any time convenient to him, in any place convenient to him, or even on the move.

To repeat tirelessly the material as many times, as the student needs to pronounce it correctly, to begin with, and then steadily memorize the material.

It’s important not to do that thoughtlessly but use the scientifically verified intervals tuned to a particular student.
To keep accurate records of the student’s progress and show him when the course will be completed, considering his pace. But in the Drill.City teaching system, we went beyond a simple division of teaching tasks between the system and the teacher – because they don’t operate separately but in coordination and cooperation.

What is the scientific nature of the Drill.City method?

– We’ve studied the maximum available scientific information on the brain functioning and human memory, on the processes that occur in our minds when we are learning something.

– We’ve also studied the available information on the operation of computer neural networks and other computer models related to machine learning.

– We found out how information flows from the senses through the buffer memory of these organs into the working memory. What working memory capacity is, how to measure it, how long it stores information, how information is displaced from working memory, then how information is transferred to long-term memory. How information is divided into blocks and keys. How keys are first realized by chemico-electrical circuits and patterns, and then gradually replaced by a newly formed configuration of neural connections.

– And the change in neural connections is not only new dendrites or branches in axonal terminal, but also the “tuning” of synapses.

– After that, we applied the processed scientific knowledge to the study of foreign languages and found that there are many gaps left to fill. And the eminent scientists still don’t care about them.

– We conducted our own research, came to interesting conclusions, successfully tested them in practice and found answers to such questions:

– How exactly does a person forget information?

– What parts information consists of and how does memorization and forgetting of each part occur?

– What steps does the process of stable memorization consist of from beginning to end?

– What is important and what is not important when learning foreign languages?

– What, of what other methods offer, is a useless and even harmful waste of time and energy?

– How to determine by the secondary indicators at what stage of the formation of sustainable memorization is the person?

– What do the most optimal repetition intervals for every particular person depend on?

– How to identify and configure the optimal repetition intervals?

– How many repetitions should be and how should intervals be changed?

– In which order and in what volumes it is most optimal to repeat the information?

– And this is far not the complete list.

– As a result, we have an advanced model of learning a foreign language, that no one else has. On its basis, we have significantly improved the system of interval repetitions and built our own technology and methodology for learning languages.

– This explains the high efficiency of our method.

Lots of rules that slip your mind

To learn a language starting with rules is to make the brain work algorithmically, like a computer. But the brain is not a computer, and it’s absolutely not adjusted to “scroll” a great deal of rules in the head to answer the question.

What the brain can do easily is to look for “patterns” and use them without effort.
For example, if you know how to say “I went to the cinema”, it will be easy for you to say many similar phrases: “I went to the university”, “I went home” etc. And for that you don’t need to “digest” any grammatical rules in your head.

If you still not agree, then consider this:

– How does a newborn child learn a language? Would it be able to talk if it wasn’t spoken to but teached grammar instead?

– How many grammatical rules does a middle-aged person remember? Probably, on average, he doesn’t remember a single one. Does this prevent them from speaking, reading and writing correctly?

In order to learn something, you have to do exactly what you wish to learn – to speak, read and write. But not to solve puzzles, crosswords, cram the rules and individual words.

The Drill.City system does exactly what it takes to teach speaking – it “talks” with the student and gives hints if necessary.

The need to learn words

Memorizing individual words is a very inefficient and costly way of learning the language, and expanding the vocabulary:

– If you teach individual words, you will have to learn how to use them in sentences. Then, when you try to say something, you will first need to remember the right words, then the rules, think how to put them together, then spend the effort to make a phrase from the words and rules.

In the meantime, your interlocutor will be far away, finding you either dumb or a person who doesn’t know the language.

– A huge number of words have a few but often many meanings. The human brain is very easy to confuse and stupefy making it remember the words separately, all their meanings separately, and numerous rules and variants of making phrases from the words also separately.

Most courses and private teachers make students learn the words at home, usually without giving any method or system that would help them. As a result, if the student hasn’t learned the words, it is clear who is to blame for the lack of results.

With the Drill.City system, you learn ready-made phrases.

– They are much easier to learn than individual words.

– Studying with our teacher, you train the skill to instantly “assemble” new phrases according to the patterns you know, using the extensive vocabulary obtained through our system.

– When you need to say something, then having a ready-made phrase in your head or a “pattern” means to speak fluently.

– And trying to remember words and rules means stammering and falling into reverie for a few minutes each time you need to say something.

The need to strain doing your homework

In traditional systems of teaching of foreign languages, the teacher sets homework assignments. Thanks to the initiative Englishmen, instead of teaching languages, the whole world teaches people to solve language puzzles. This lengthens the learning process and proportionally increases profits of the inventors of the wonderful puzzles.

Solving puzzles requires great efforts, but this poorly helps a person learn speaking. That’s why most people associate language learning with the overwork being done for a long period of time.

Homework also gives teachers the right to blame students for not being able to learn anything.

With the Drill.City system, you learn without much effort.

– During the learning, you repeat or translate the phrases offered by the system.

– If you forget, the system gives hints.

– Drill.City tracks how difficult or easy those or other phrases are coming to you, and takes this into account when teaching.

– If you’re tired and find it difficult to focus, you don’t have to push yourself, as you learn anyway.

– When your are more focused, it still speeds up the learning process. But you can control – how much effort you want to spend during classes.

– The weekly lesson with the teacher is also easier and more enjoyable than in traditional courses, because the teacher knows what you’ve already learnt and what haven’t, and that’s what the lesson is building on.

Words are quickly forgotten

It’s not surprising, because the brain is arranged this way. It works very sparingly, and doesn’t remember anything for long, except the most necessary things. Millennial evolution taught the brain that it’s important to remember:

– what happened in an extreme situation, for example, when it escaped from a saber-toothed tiger – so that next time he could escape again

– what periodically repeats – so that you don’t have to come up with it each time or learn it again

If the learnt material is not periodically repeated, then according to the laws of how the brain works, it will forget it.

Many courses and teachers didn’t even hear about the mechanics of repetition. And practically none of the courses, not to mention private teachers, know how to correctly and efficiently repeat the material – at what intervals, how many times, in what volumes and how exactly.

Drill.City is built on the results of scientific research on the brain functioning

– We took all the information available on this topic and conducted our own research development.

– As a result, our brain functioning model contains additional elements and processes that no one takes into account except us. At least, there’s no information about it in open sources.

– That is, our model of human brain functioning, as applied to the task of learning languages, is the most advanced at the present day.

– Effective repetition – at what intervals, how many times, in what volumes and how exactly to repeat, in our system it is not only 92 adjustable parameters – for a course or a student, but also a set of constantly changing values that the system adjusts while learning.

– This means that Drill.City provides the student with the shortest path to his cherished dream to master a foreign language, with the least possible effort.

There’s no progress

All problems and incorrect approaches of traditional teaching methods lead to the fact that the results of insignificant temporary progress, in most students, quickly go into oblivion. Usually, to master a foreign language, you must be one of the most desperate, super talented by nature, or stubborn people who have spent titanic efforts and time on study.

The average person is studying a foreign language for 10 or more years at school, then another 4-5 years at the institute, then several years at courses or with a teacher, and as a result, can hardly express himself in a very broken language.

There’s even an excuse – a person won’t learn to speak, until he lives in a language environment. But that’s another myth of an incorrect learning system.

With Drill.City you start speaking from the first lesson. After each lesson, the system shows the progress of the student, including the expected end date of the course. With each week the student inevitably makes progress and moves forward, whatever his aptitude for languages is.

– The student has a dialogue with the system: follows voice instructions, repeats and translates phrases. The system can be controlled both by voice and from the screen of a smartphone, or tablet based on the android system.

– The student chooses a convenient schedule and duration of classes himself. But the recommended schedule is two times a day for half an hour, in the morning and in the evening, every day.

– In between, to accelerate progress, you can take short express lessons for a few minutes and repeat new and problematic phrases.

– Skipping a lesson is not fatal, but taking into account how the brain works, missing the classes will noticeably slow down your learning. And you’ll see it by changing the expected end date of the course.

– Once a week there is an activity with a teacher:

who teaches the student to conduct a dialogue, build phrases based on learned patterns, using words that the student already knows, to answer and ask questions.

who answers the questions on specific phrases dictated by the student to his phone during classes.

who explains the potential complexities of the language.

who gives the minimum amount of grammar – just as much as it can help you to learn speaking and understanding without much effort.

The need to force yourself to go to class

The teacher will be dissatisfied, because the student again forgot everything they passed three times, because he didn’t learn the list of assigned words, because at the lesson he cannot remember the new topic from the first time and answer the questions without errors.

And if the method is “innovative”, then half an hour later you don’t understand anything, because instead of studying they force you to solve some puzzles – “so that you weren’t so bored at the lesson.”

With Drill.City it’s easy to be engaged, and the lesson with the teacher is pleasant, simple and useful

– The student establishes the level of effort himself. You can do your utmost, reaching the maximum speed of the course, or not to strain at all, and still cheerfully move forward. The system will support the level of effort chosen by the student.

– When you learn something, you have to do only the things you want to master – to speak and understand. Solving puzzles develops only the ability to solve puzzles, and that is not used in our system.

– The system leads the student through the course itself. And the student, in turn, just follows the instructions of the system, without breaking his head over what he needs to do and for how long.

– Grammar is given not in the form of rules, but in the form of comparative examples, assembled into short grammatical mini-blocks.

– It’s enough to do it twice a day for about 30 minutes. To accelerate your progress, you can take one or two express lessons for several minutes during the day, and repeat new material and complex phrases.
The system also decides on the problematic and new phrases for the express lesson.

– With us you don’t need to worry about anything at all – just press the “play” button and follow the hints of the system.

– You can do it looking at the screen (remembering spelling at the same time), or connecting a headset to your phone and leave it in your pocket.
There’s no need to operate the system, as it knows what to do. But if necessary, the commands can be called from the menu on the screen, or by voice through the microphone.

– Lesson with the teacher in Drill.City is twice as productive as the traditional one, because the system informs the teacher about what you already know and what you don’t, and you won’t be asked what you don’t know. The teacher will teach you to “talk” – to train you to make lots of new phrases from the phrases and words you know.

– If necessary, the teacher will explain the rules, but in order to help you master the language faster, and not as a goal in itself. Also, he will answer your questions that you dictated to your phone while learning with the system.

There’s no time and energy for classes

Traditional classes are exhausting. If a person has a difficult job or study, then it’s very difficult to allocate an hour or two to the class. Especially when you need to follow a strict schedule, and everyday life challenges us with urgent matters and problems.

With Drill.City it’s easy to find time for classes

– Firstly, it’s much easier to find half an hour to study anywhere, preferably where there’s Internet connection and it’s not very noisy, than to fit into the schedule with the teacher for an hour and a half, plus time spent on the road in each direction, if it’s not classes via Skype. You can also do it in a noisy place, for example, while traveling in the metro, not using the voice recognition function.

– Secondly, the system supports the operating mode without using the phone screen. In this case, you can call commands by voice, although normally there’s no need to do it, since the system knows what to do itself.

– In the voice mode, you can learn at the same time as doing some activities that don’t require special concentration, not using the smartphone screen:

  • Yoga
  • Training on cardio equipment
  • Biking
  • Stroll in the park
  • Cooking dinner
  • Applying makeup
  • Organizing your things
  • And in many other situations
